Thiruvananthapuram: A kit has been devised to diagnosis various ailments by saliva test. The claim is that almost 200 ailments can be detected early by using this kit. Cancer, cardiovascular and neurological disorders, infertility problems etc can be tested using the kit named Sajinom. Researchers Dr M Ayyappan, former CMD of HLL Lifecare and Prof M Radhakrishna Pillai, former Director at Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology (RGCB) have strongly backed this claim.
The possibility of ailments is determined by understanding the genetic structure of people and analysing them on computers. This genetic analysis method can be used to instruct changes in the treatment methods and lifestyle. The arrangements to collect saliva from people’s homes will also be made.
Currently, samples are being tested at Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology. Dr Ayyappan and Prof Radhakrishna Pillai said that a laboratory will be set up in the one and a half-acre plot allotted by the government inside the Life Sciences Park in Thonnakkal in Thiruvananthapuram.
