Ranji Trophy: Kerala need 242 runs to win against Gujarat


Kerala are hoping for a better performance the openers and other batsmen including Robin Uthappa, Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby.

Surat (Gujarat): With two days and 10 wickets in hand, Kerala need 242 runs win against favourites Gujarat in Ranji Trophy cricket tournament here.

At the end of second day’s play, Kerala has taken 26 runs without loss. Openers Jalaj Sarema (3) and Vishnu Vinod (22) are at the crease. Kerala are hoping for a better performance the openers and other batsmen including Robin Uthappa, Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby.

In the first innings, Kerala bowled out Gujarat for 127 but score only 70 runs while batting. In the second innings, Gujarat managed to score 210. Manpreet Juneja (53) and Chintan Gaja (50) scored half centuries.

For Kerala, Basil Thampi took five wickets. Jalaj Saxena claimed three while Sandeep Warrier claimed two wickets.

It remains to be seen if the Kerala batting lineup would crumble before the Gujarat bowing attack once again.
