Malampuzha: There has been little progress in the rescue mission to save the youth trapped on a hill in Palakkad even on the second day. The attempt to deliver food and water has also failed.
The operation at Palakkad's Malampuzha Cherad hill still continues with the help of various forces and volunteers. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team from Thrissur has reached the spot. A helicopter of the Coast Guard was brought to the location but did not yield any result.
It was on Monday afternoon, Babu and two other children climbed the steep Kurumbachi hill, part of the Cherad hill. But the kids both returned from halfway when they failed to climb the hill. However, Babu continued to the top. Unfortunately, he slipped from the top and got trapped between the rocks.

Babu immediately informed the people waiting for him down the hill over the phone. Some tried to save him but failed. Then, Babu informed the fire force about the accident. Later in the night, the NDRF reached the spot. But none of them could not bring him down as he was trapped between rocks.
The Ideal Relief Wing, an affiliate of Jamaat-e-Islami, arrived at the spot by around noon. Led by district leader Jaffar, 12 people arrived with rescue equipment for the search. The rescue operation for Babu continued till midnight. Foresters, firefighters and local relief workers continued the search. The police stayed at the foot of the hill, lighting lanterns to give directions.

Rescue workers went to the hill again this morning but could not reach Babu. Even after 24 hours, he is still trapped between the rocks with a leg injury and severe muscle pain.
