Chattiparambu: A treasure was recovered from the premises of a house located in Kottapuram in Mannazhi, a village within the Ponmala Grama Panchayat limits. The treasure was recovered while the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Thozhilurappu Padhathi) workers of the ward were digging pits around coconut trees. The treasure was found from the land belonging to a woman named Karthyayani.

The treasure was hidden in a metal box within a clay pot. The box contains ancient metals in the form of gold coins. All legal procedures were completed in the presence of elected representatives and other officials. The officials from the village office handed over the items of the treasure, including the metal box, to the treasury of District Civil Station in the presence of Karthyayani’s son Pushparaj.

The Kerala State Department of Archaeology informed that it would take further action after examining the metal artefacts recovered from the box.
