Chengannur: A female village officer in Alappuzha stood before a seized earth mover that was illegally filling a paddy field under the pretext of cleaning the panchayat pool. The village officer was on guard late into night after the police failed to take any action on the matter.
A paddy field was illegally being filled on Monday evening under the pretext of cleaning the Panayathukulam pool owned by Puliyoor panchayat. After receiving information, village officer R.I. Sandhya arrived at the spot and stopped work. Meanwhile, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. The incident was reported to the police at 5.30 pm but they reached the spot at 8.30 pm, three hours late.
Following this, she prepared a mahasar and instructed that the property owner be entrusted with the task of maintaining the earth mover. However, the owner refused to take responsibility. The police refused to book case citing no complaints were raised by the public on the matter. Following this, she stood guard to the machine late into night.
