Thiruvananthapuram: Circle Inspectors in 196 local police stations in the state have assumed charge as Station House Officers (SHO). The new post in the policing system was officially inaugurated at Medical College Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram.
Inspector Binu Kumar C took charge as SHO in Medical College Police station in the presence of State Police Chief Loknath Behera.
“SHO will be a major official link in the law and order system. He or she will be in charge of receiving petitions and registering cases. Hence appointment of a well experienced senior official will be helpful for public,” said Behera.
“A special system for crime investigation will improve the investigation process. In that sense, appointment of SHOs is a historic move,” he added.
Seven stations in the state already have SHOs.
