Sabarimala: A group of devotees blocked some Malaysian women pilgrims who are above 50 years old from entering the temple here on Sunday. It is reported that the devotees blocked their way and carried out an inspection of their age proof here.
The women were allowed to continue their pilgrimage after giving their passport to prove their age before the protesters.
The women arrived at Sabarimala with a team of 36 pilgrims led by Sekharan Guru swami from Seremban region in Malayasia.
It is alleged that the women trekked to the shrine in dolly and by walk were blocked from Pampa. Later, they were allowed to trek to the shrine after Devaswom vigilance official joined them.
After offering prayers at the temple, the team donated Rs 70,000 to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. Guru swami Sekharan handed over the fund to Devaswom board member N Vijayakumar.
