BJP moves breach of parliament privileges petition against Pinarayi Vijayan

The petition comes after the Kerala assembly passed resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act calling it 'illegal & unconstitutional'.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a petition seeking to initiate breach of Parliament privileges & contempt proceedings against Kerala Chief Ministr Pinarayi Vijayan.

GVL Narasimha Rao, BJP MP, has filed a petition with Venkaiah Naidu, Chairman of Rajya Sabha.

The petition comes after the Kerala assembly passed resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act calling it 'illegal & unconstitutional'.

Narasimha Rao sought to discuss the matter during the privilege committee on January 3, 2020.

“Rajya Sabha handbook clearly states this is a violation of Parliament privileges. So, I have petitioned the Rajya Sabha Chairman seeking contempt proceedings & breach of privilege proceedings, against Pinarayi Vijayan,” said Narasimha Rao.
