Akash after being hospitalized

Alappuzha: A DYFI activist from Alappuzha’s Mavelikara has suffered injuries after being allegedly hacked with a hatchet axe. The person who sustained injuries has been identified as Akash, a native of Palamel. He has been hospitalized in the District Medical College. The person has a 10cm long wound on his neck.

Notably, in the locality, another DYFI activist’s house and vehicle were set ablaze. According to DYFI representatives, both incidents are connected and they allege the involvement of the drug mafia. The representative’s alleged that Noorand native Vishnu stopped Akash’s vehicle and attacked him.

Reportedly, earlier, Vishnu’s brother Binu along with others had attacked DYFI activists for questioning them on drug use in the region. Over the matter, there is a police case and Vishnu is the main accused. DYFI activists also conducted a campaign against the drug mafia in the locality.

Now Vishnu is under police custody. Further details are awaited.
