Banned tobacco products-Machinery used for manufacturing

Malappuram: The police have busted a factory manufacturing banned tobacco products in Kuttipuram here on Friday. In the search conducted during the night hours, the police found banned tobacco products and machinery used to manufacture it. It is learnt that the factory situated at Kunnumpuram near Edachalem has been involved in the distribution of these banned products to nearby districts. Following the raid, police sealed off the factory.

The preliminary investigation found that the building in which the factory was functioning has been taken for lease by a person from Pattambi in Palakkad. The person has been identified as Muhammad. The police have a clear cut idea about those who run the factory and they informed that they will be arrested soon.

The factory was first identified by the locals themselves and when they restricted the operation three from the factory fled the scene. According to the locals, machines for grinding the tobacco and packaging equipment are found in the factory.
