Thiruvananthapuram: Chalachitra Academy chairman and Director Kamal has written to Minister AK Balan to make permanent four left-leaning temporary staff of the academy. The letter was released by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala during the Assembly session.
Kamal requested to make four temporary staff permanent at the Chalachitra academy. The letter was sent in the month of August 2020. The letter recommended that Shaji H (Deputy Director), Rijoy KJ (Programme Manager, Festival), NP Sajeesh (Deputy Director, Programmes), Vimal Kumar VP (Programme Manager, Programmes) should be made permanent. Their affiliation towards the left party is mentioned in the fifth paragraph of the letter.
The letter pointed out that these employees uphold left progressive values and that they will be useful in maintaining the left-leaning nature of the film festival.
Raising this issue in the assembly, Ramesh Chennithala stated appointing Left-leaning individuals in various positions is a blatant violation of the law. This is equivalent to backdoor appointments in other departments also, he said. The opposition boycotted the Assembly session after this.
