Sweets or dessert is an inevitable part of the meals. Be it gulab jamun, ice cream, sweets or Kesari, a spoon full of any sweet makes a meal complete. But according to Ayurveda practitionerVaralakshmi Yanamantra, having sweet after a meal is not good for health. She posted this through her Instagram page.
She said that sweets are to be eaten as a starter and not a dessert. In Ayurveda, sweet is not easily digestible so they have to be consumed initially. Not only sweets, ghee, jangri, carrots also come under this. A lot of sweets and water make the stomach feel full and slow-digesting in nature. Instead of sweets, pre-biotics like curd are to be consumed, says Dr Varalakshmi.
