Kochi: Amid the surge in COVID cases across the state, Kudumbashree has decided to resume the home delivery of meals at Rs 25. Kudumbashree Mission has been busy with the preparations to revamp the Janakeeya hotels with online booking and delivery.

During the nationwide lockdown in 2020, Kudumbashree operated Janakeeya hotels and supplied food to people who were stranded in various places and those in quarantine.

In the initial phase, the orders will be accepted only through ward members and councillors on every Saturdays and Sundays. Rs 25 will be charged for home delivery of meals. An additional amount will be charged for special dishes.

At present, Kudumbashree is operating 1064 hotels across the state. In Ernakulam, 106 hotels are operated in the city limit and 16 in other areas.

Annashree app

Kudumbashree has been distributing food from Mother Kitchen in Kalamassery and Thrikkakkara through the Annashree app. Kudumbashree members have been delivering the order received through the app.

Along with the food supply, Kudumbashree members will take part in the COVID-19 prevention activities. Special online classes were provided to ADS, CDS and Kudumbashree members for intensifying the ward level preventive actions.

Kudumbashree Ernakulam district programme manager PA Ajith stated that the Kudumbashree members will support the public through food delivery and COVID prevention activities.

“ No person will face trouble to get food amid the COVID restriction. Services through the Annashree app are being operated well. The public should utilize the service,” appealed the official.
