Thenhippalam: The Calicut University has explained the rationale behind sending question papers online to affiliated colleges. Calicut University syndicate examination standing committee convenor Dr Rijulal said that the move will ensure speedy conduct of examinations and announcement of results. It will help students find higher education and job opportunities without time loss, he added.
The allegations that this will affect the credibility of the exam is baseless.
It takes around one-and-a-half months to print the question paper of one examination. The printers outside Kerala expressed difficulties in meeting the deadline during the pandemic period. Parcel vehicles have to go through more checking in other states, he said.
More than a hundred teachers are trained online for handling online question papers. Only the principal or the superintendent of the college will be able to download the watermarked question paper from the college portal. It has tracking options if anyone intentionally leaks it. Colleges are asked to buy high-speed printers. The paper will be released one-and-a-half hours before for colleges with more students.
The method is already implemented in MG University and the Digital Univerisity, Rijulal said.
