Thiruvananthapuram: The education department has decided to reinstate the old timings for standards 10, 11 and 12. At present, classes are held only till noon. However, as the final exams are approaching, the department considered rolling back the morning to evening schedule.

Old timings for the remaining classes are also in consideration. However, a final decision will be made only at the high-level meeting on Monday.

The state had earlier decided to restart the classes from 1-9 from February 14. Colleges and standards 10, 11 and 12 will restart on February 7. The educational institutions were closed on January 21 following the third wave of the Covid-19.

When schools reopened on November 1, 2021, after a long break, the classes were scheduled till noon. Besides, they were divided into multiple batches to avoid crowding.

The state is showing a decline in the number of daily Covid-19 cases.
