School closure: online classes for standard 1 to 9, Kerala govt issues detailed guidelines

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has issued detailed guidelines over the closure of schools amid the third wave of COVID-19. Classes for students in standard 1 to 9 will switch back to online from January 21, Friday. The guidelines pointed out that a decision on the reopening of schools will be taken only after reviewing the Covid situation.

Meanwhile, offline classes at schools will continue for classes 10, 11 and 12.

Digital classes will continue on the KITE Victers channel. Time Table of the classes will be published soon.

Efforts must be taken to ensure that all students from standard 1 to 9 get access to the online classes. Teachers and parents must use the digital platform for communication.

School Resource Groups must convene meetings without fail. Each student’s improvement in learning must be observed and reported. Improvement in learning should be recorded on the student profile. Head of the institutions must take leadership to ensure that all students have access to online classes.

If any schools turn Covid clusters, the health department must be informed immediately. These schools will be closed for two weeks.

All teachers are asked to report at schools regularly. Offices in all schools must function as per COVID protocol, read the guidelines.
