Thrissur: Six siblings from Kerala have shocked the world with their Christmas songs. The story of these six siblings and ‘Joyful six’ featured from India in the America-based Shalom TV.
They are the children of Shejin Thomas and Smitha J Lucose. Shejin is a production general manager Windfall at Infopark in Koratty. Smitha is an Assistant professor of Dairy College in Veterinary University.
The YouTube page of ‘Joyful Six’ has 36,000 subscribers. Their first song, Angels we have heard on high, was viewed by 22 lakh people.
Plus One student Jessica, eighth standard student Jessiya, sixth standard student Jesse, fifth standard student Joshua, fourth standard student Johanna and four- year- old Johan are the children behind ‘Joyful Six.’
The story of the dinging siblings started when they greeted Shejin, who returned from America on Christmas, with the famous ‘Carol of the bells’ song. Shejin, who was shocked by the song, took them to a studio and recorded the song.
Even Janardhanan sir, who taught Carnatic music and piano teacher Celistan were also shocked after listening to the recorded song. The relatives, who heard the song, asked for a video of the song. And hence, the video was recorded.
Later the official page of ‘Joyful six’ was started on YouTube. Their first song, Carol of the bells, was viewed by 40,000 people in two days. It was also widely shared on WhasApp. The children became superstars after more than 5 lakh people viewed the song in a few days’ time.
They also started getting invitations for programmes from within and outside the country thinking they were professionals.
In 2018, the children came up with their own song. Their ‘star of the world’ was viewed by 6.98 lakh people. Their Christmas song this year, ‘Angels we have heard on high’ by Pentonix band was viewed by 1.8 lakh people in 5 days. Meanwhile, the world came to know about their story through Shalom TV.
Shejin feels that life is beautiful like a good melody. Smitha says that it was their joint decision to have a lot of kids after marriage. Nothing can replace the joy when all six children come together. All of them talented in music, Smitha added.
